The final project
December 5, 2008
In Dundee me and my group followed people around dundee as a form of tracking someone directly. With the internet’s easy access and facebook’s networks i decided to invert this and track people indirectly, taking on the title as a “facebook stalker”. I did this by tracking who was online every hour and plotting the people in a visual graph, by changing the opacity according to who was online and who wasn’t. In my mind, the image worked quite well. The second part of the project was to embed profiles into the pdf to whoever was online. This was to emphasis the tracking and the stalking of my fellow peers. (Can’t post the pdf because of personal information on the profiles).
A few problems that I had was the fear of lack of data, if my “friend list” was capable to create such a long list. But after doing a trail, it seemed to work fine. Another major problem i had was embedding the profiles into the pdf and making them pop up but resolved by creating a new page with the profile and linking it back to the original file.
Overall i think the image turned out, i had the desired effect of the image on my blog called “sunset” and it wasn’t far off from it. I am pleased with the asethetics of the image and in the pdf my links work!!! yay!!! But if i had enough time i would of liked to explored a different way of embedding the profiles ie via layers. ![]()
